The family of late Sen. Ted Kennedy has created a Twitter account to post updates from activities leading up to the liberal icon’s Saturday burial, offering an intimate look into one of America’s most iconic families.

The account — @kennedynews — was used in earnest during Kennedy’s public viewing Thursday evening at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston.

Tweets included color from inside the family circle and a play-by-play of those from the public paying last respects.

Some of the unedited tweets from Kennedy’s public viewing:

• Mrs. Kennedy is now outside greeting well wishers. The line is more than a two and a half hour wait now.

• Mrs. Kennedy said people outside kept saying “thank you for opening this up to the public and for letting us say ‘bye’ to him too.”

• Cindy, Daniel & David McGinty now sitting vigil. Sen Kennedy became very close to them and other Massachusetts families affected by 9/11.

Kennedy will be buried Saturday at Arlington National Cemetery after a private funeral mass.
